Phoenix officer worker Marion Crane runs away because she is fed up with life. She steals $40,000 and laves for fairvale and meets a man dominated by his mother.
The external threat is from a mad man with a deranged mind.
Key scenes:
The shower scene

The early exit of Janet Leigh is very unexpected and the screenplay tricks the audience in to thinking that Marion was the main character.
